Happy Wednesday, friends! I’m back with an all new color focused Wednesday Wishes. This color palette might just be one of my favorites! I’ve shared a few color inspiration posts this fall: from green (post here) to blue (post here) to a fall favorite, rust (post here). But one trend for fall that I have been particularly loving are shades of brown. From cognac to chocolate, it’s safe to say that brown is the new black.

Brown is the New Black

When I first read that brown would be the new black of fall, I was pretty excited. I have always been a fan of the rich, chocolate brown shade, especially in the fall. But this season, with so many shades of brown, there is something for everyone’s closet. And speaking of your closet, since brown is considered the new black for fall, it really is a shade that can be paired with so much in your wardrobe. Including black, like with this tie neck blouse.

Bronze and Copper Shades

Starting with the lightest shade of brown, bronze and copper are popular shades for both your closet and your home this season. This floral A-line dress (also available in a wrap version here) is a gorgeous midi length with open back details that is perfectly on trend. Moving onto accessories, these drop earrings are a fun statement piece for any look and priced at $60. Lastly, this copper candle would be a great home accent piece for fall. Best part: the scent is a mixture of chestnuts and cinnamon!

Chocolate Brown

A rich fall hue, chocolate brown is an ideal shade for fall. It’s difficult to skip over this chocolate brown velvet blazer. I have this exact blazer in black from several years ago when the velvet trend was popular last. I’m so glad it’s back! I think this brown version will be added to my wish list! Would it not be gorgeous with riding boots and a fall scarf? Another chocolate brown closet staple: these leather and faux suede ankle boots with a strap that are under $50! Last, but not least, I have had my eye on this bow hair tie (available in mauve, emerald green and black as well). I was all about a pony tail and bow in high school and I am obsessed with this velvet version. I think I need it in every color!

How do you feel about brown being the new black? Thanks for reading and have a wonderful Wednesday, friends!

  1. Love the velvet and the ruffled neck top is so unique and fun! Have a most wonderful Wednesday Rachel!

  2. I’m a huge fan of brown and tend to gravitate towards that more than black – something about the camel / chocolate brown colors in the fall that make me happy! That blazer is amazing! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

  3. Yes to brown. I have loved the color brown for years. I also wear it wtih black alot as Coco Chanel always did. I know some people don’t like it but I do like black and chocolate brown together, I think it is very chic looking. I just got a brown tote from Cuyana and people have stopped me on the street to ask me where it is from.

  4. That’s awesome that brown is going to be the new black! I feel like it’s not as harsh as black, and it goes with so much in your closet, like you already said. I’m normally a huge fan of cognac, but that chocolate brown is beautiful too!

  5. Wow, what a beautiful set you’ve created with such gorgeous pieces! I love brown come fall, too, and I agree that it’s one that can definitely be used as an alternative to black. I’m swooning over those booties, I think I may need them! Thanks for sharing, gorgeous, and I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far!

    Xo,
