Each fall, there is an “it” color of the season. For me, I typically gravitate towards green, camel and burgundy in the fall. But this year, there is one color in particular I have my eye on. I think it’s safe to say I’ve found my fall color crush: rust.
Rust for Fall
Although “rust” doesn’t always have the best connotation, this type of rust is a good thing! I think one of the many reasons I love it so much is because it is a version of burgundy. There are so many shades of rust, as you can see from this collage. The color range goes from orange to burgundy and everything in between. Rust is also a color that can not only be worn in clothes but in accessories and beauty, too.
Burgundy to Orange
As I mentioned, there are quite a few variations of this fall color crush. Starting with the orange shades, this faux leather skirt is a closet must-have for fall. Wear it with a blouse and ankle booties in early fall and pair it with a turtleneck and over the knee boots later in the season. A comfortable A-line silhouette and only $60! More of the true rust and middle of the road shade, this boatneck sweater is the perfect fall sweater to pair with jeans for a casual look or dress it up with a skirt for a wear to work outfit. Lastly, at the other end of the spectrum, this lace dress definitely has more burgundy undertones. I love the cap sleeve details and the knee-length style. Priced under $60, this dress would look fabulous for any fall weddings you are planning to attend.
Try Out Rust with Accessories
Like with other bold colors, if you aren’t ready to dress in rust from head to toe, accessories and beauty products are a great way to incorporate the color into your look. While this lipstick would definitely make a statement, this lipgloss would be a little more subtle. Of all the products, I find myself gravitating to the eyeshadow palette. The palette includes eight colors in four different finishes. There are so many combinations in this palette and the bronze/rust colors are the perfect compliment to your fall outfits.
What color have you been crushing on lately? As I mentioned yesterday, a new series is starting this Friday for e-mail subscribers. It’s exclusive content that won’t be on the blog, so if you would like to, sign up here! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Wednesday!

I love rust, and I think it isn’t just for fall either! In the spring with white or blush and in the summer with blues… it’s a fabulous shade.

I LOVE rust, it’s definitely one of my favorite fall colors. Fall is my favorite season, I love dressing for the season because there’s just much more to work with when it comes to styling and I love playing around with saturated colors, like rust. You have such a beautiful selection here, too; I want that sweater and those shoes! I agree, whenever one’s a bit skeptical of a color, beauty is the best way to experiment first.
