I first discovered the Kérastase collection a few years ago after my hair stylist recommended a shampoo and conditioner. I had been going back and forth between shampoos and conditioners for years, seeming to switch them up each time I went to the salon. I had tried countless brands, never finding one that I truly loved. Three years after my hair stylist introduced me to Kérastase, I’m still loving it. Although I have tried quite a few of their products, today I am talking about the Kérastase Color Protection Collection and sharing what has become my go-to hairstyle this summer.

Kérastase Color Protection Collection

Since discovering Kérastase three years ago, I have become well acquainted with their line. I first shared the shampoo and conditioner I used this winter in this post where I shared how I create my loose curls. When Kérastase reached out for a collaboration, it was a no-brainer. This is a line of hair products that I have been using for years and have shared with you here on the blog in the past. I was very much looking forward to testing out a new collection from their amazing line of products.

I usually get my hair highlighted every 8 weeks. By the time the 6th or 7th week rolls around, my hair starts to get super light. No matter how dark of a blonde we go at the appointment, my hair always lightens up before my next visit. I have been using the Kérastase Color Protection shampoo and conditioner since my last appointment and cannot believe the results. I am about 1 week out from my next highlight appointment and my hair color has stayed just about the same as when I left the salon 7 weeks ago. I have been using this shampoo and conditioner exclusively and love the results.

Not only does it keep my hair from turning that super light blonde, I cannot believe how well it cleans my hair! I know that might sound a little crazy. Isn’t that what all shampoo is suppose to do? But this Kérastase Color Protection shampoo creates SO many bubbles. My hair feels salon-clean! (Isn’t there such a difference when you get your hair washed at the salon? Tell me I’m not alone! I feel like I can achieve that same cleanliness at home now.)

Kérastase Color Protection Hair Mask

Once a week, I have been using the Kérastase Color Protection Hair Mask. I have found a few hair masks that I like, but most of the ones I have tried guarantee softer, more nourished hair. Kérastase’s Color Protection Hair Mask does leave your hair with that soft and hydrated feeling, but it also goes one step further to protect the color on your hair. To use, apply a quarter-size on your hair from mid-length to the ends. Allow the mask to sit for 5-10 minutes (I’m closer to the 5 minutes) and rinse out.

Kérastase Elixir Ultime Original Oil

Although this Elixir Ultime Original Hair Oil is not part of the color protection collection, it is a new addition to my hair routine that I wanted to share. I have been using this hair oil on my towel dry hair before blowing it dry (I put my heat protectant on first, then the oil). It not only makes your hair soft and smooth, but also shiny! Since my hair is pretty fine, I only use about a half of pump. For thicker hair, I would use 1-2 pumps.

I have only been using the oil on my wet hair, before drying. However, it is a multi-purpose oil that can be used a few ways:

1. Apply the oil to pre-cleansed hair and wash out before shampoo to remove impurities;
2. Pre-blow dry (this is how I use it);
3. Use as a styling oil to your blown dry hair to control fizz, style and add shine; or
4. Apply to the ends throughout the day to add shine.

Quick Summer Hairstyle

Since we are talking about hair, I thought I would share this easy summer hairstyle I have been wearing non-stop the past few months. It is nothing special or too difficult, but it’s a fun way to get your hair off your face during these warmer temperatures. The first time I wore this hairstyle, I had visions of elementary school when I would get so upset when my mom would do my hair (and not do it to my 2nd grade liking). I was (still am?) a little controlling. Sorry, Mom!

What I love about this hairstyle, is that it works well with any length and both curly and straight hair. I’ve worn it with both! Here are the easy steps:

1. Start by teasing your hair from the roots. I use this teasing brush.
2. Divide your hair in half to create the “half up, half down” style.
3. Secure the hair with a thin hair tie.
4. Take a thin piece of hair from the ponytail and begin to wrap the hair around the hair tie.
5. Secure the piece of hair with a bobby pin.
6. Tease the ponytail to give it a little volume!
7. Finish with hairspray or the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Original Oil.
