Well hello, friends! My apologies for being MIA. It has been a rough few months. With a lot going on in just about every facet of our lives, there has been little to no free time to blog over the past few months. However, that is about to change! You can expect my usual 3-4 posts per week to be back with all new content. One of the things that has taken up a lot of my time is working on the house. More on that later, but as we start to make progress with renovations and decorating, I’m looking forward to sharing it with you! Kicking off the home decor series with one of my new favorite “rooms” in the house: the screened in porch.

Our Home at Christmas
Happy New Year, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and 2019 is off to a great start. This might be a little anticlimactic, but I realized I never shared these photos of our house decorated at Christmas. I took these a few weeks ago, and while I was putting away the Christmas decorations last week, I realized I never shared these! Here is a peek of our home at Christmas:
New House, Who Dis?
Happy Monday, friends! Long time no post! It’s been a crazy month with so much happening, I wanted to share a quick home update post with all of you. From the move to a busy time at work, ABM has taken a back seat to the craziness of life lately. Today, I will be sharing a quick life update, what I learned from the month hiatus and the future of ABM.
Autumn Home Decor
With the exception of Christmas, fall is definitely my favorite season for decorating. Now that it’s officially October, it seems like it’s socially acceptable to start pulling out the autumn decor pieces. We have been gone for what seems like every weekend for the past few months, but this weekend we are actually at home and I am so looking forward to decorating the house. Although, not looking forward to potentially dealing with Hurricane Matthew. I might be waiting until next week to get the mums if a hurricane is on it’s way…
These are a few of the fall decorations I have been eyeing to add to my collection this season. At the top of my list are white pumpkins: they would be so cute to add with the traditional pumpkins both indoors and outdoors. Also at the top of my list are festive kitchen towels. I love changing these towels out every season and the pumpkin pie and apple streusel towels are too perfect to pass up. Lastly, I have been searching for a fall candle for our living room. My husband finds the Bath and Body Works candles to be too overpowering, leaving us both with headaches, so we have been trying different brands. We just finished off this candle in amber and we loved it. I’m going to check out this one I mentioned above because not only does the pumpkin scent sound amazing, but I love the packaging!
Here are a few other fall finds to add to your kitchen:
- Have you started thinking of fall pie baking yet? These autumn pie crust cutters would be such a wonderful presentation.
- There is no denying my love for pasta and I love this fall spin. If you are looking for a quick weeknight dinner, try this pumpkin parmesan and butternut squash sauce with pumpkin shaped pasta!
- This cast-iron pumpkin cocotte is functional for cooking and pretty on the table. Perfect for fall soups and stews! I just made this cauliflower chowder and have my eye on this chili recipe next!
- Add this pumpkin spice hand soap, dish soap and a pumpkin spice soy candle to your kitchen to celebrate the fall season before you even start cooking!
Holiday Bar Decorations & A Festive Cocktail
Crate & Barrel Bar | Gold Christmas Tree | Festive Paper Coasters | Deer Figurine | Glitter Spray | Copper Mugs
Have you started thinking about Christmas decorations yet? Or have you already started to decorate your home? I typically like to wait until after Thanksgiving for the outside lights and tree to go up, but I did start a little early with bar decorations so I could share some ideas with you! If you have a bar, a bar cart or another small space in your home, I have some ideas that can add the perfect amount of holiday cheer, not matter what size your space is!
A few years ago for Christmas, my parents bought us this bar for our house. While I saw it more as a piece of furniture, my husband saw it for what it really was and completely embraced his inner mixologist! In the three years we have lived in our house, he has successfully filled the bar with basically anything you could ever dream of. You name it, he has it! And it’s a good thing he is an expert when coming up with festive cocktails, because he is sharing one below!
*Decorating Tips*
* For me, less is more. I know that clutter is difficult to avoid during the holiday decorating season, but when decorating your bar, it’s important to keep things relatively simple. I don’t know about you, but I have visions of bottles, glasses and/or decorations being knocked over and spilling all over the floor and furniture, and that would be a complete mess! I think when you are working with liquids close to furniture, it’s best to limit the number of items displayed.
*Festive coasters. I’m a stickler when it comes to coasters. We have our everyday ones that are always present on our living room table, but I love these festive coasters, especially if you are having a holiday party. Not only are they cute, but they are paper and can be easily tossed once used!
*Wine Corks. My husband and I have been collecting wine corks since we first started dating. I have a vase in our dining room of hydrangeas that I have filled with the collected wine corks, which makes a great display for all year round. But, for the Christmas season, I like to move the vase over to the bar and add festive glitter spray, which adds the perfect holiday touch.
*Holiday Cocktail. The Moscow Mule is one of the hottest drinks right now. It’s one of my husband’s favorite to make and even one that I enjoy! To put a Christmas spin on this new favorite, he created the Cranberry Moscow Mule. Not only is it festive in color, it truly is a taste of the season!

home & wardrobe color // metallic
Happy Wednesday! Today, I am combining my love for fashion and home decor for this week’s Wednesday Wishes. As we approach the official start to summer, it marks a great time for a home and closet refresher. And what is more refreshing than pops of metallic to spruce up your home and outfit!
This concrete and chrome coffee table is beyond amazing and it would serve as the coolest statement piece in a living room. I have also had my eye on a gold flatware set for sometime now; I think using gold flatware is the perfect way to mix up your tabletop for summer! And how great is this golden pillow cover?! These are definitely some of my favorite items that I am currently loving for our home.
I am always drawn to metallic when searching for home decor, but it is also a color I have been craving for my closet lately! I have loved these daisy wedges for a few months now, and now that they are finally on sale it makes them even more tempting! And these mosaic-print embroidered shorts are just so cute! I am looking forward to incorporating more metallic pieces into my wardrobe this summer — it seems like the perfect season to experiment with metallic!
Thanks for dropping by and have a wonderful day!
