Summer’s Last Hurrah

cute pink summer dress

While we still have a good portion of August remaining, I am mentally preparing myself for fall. The heat returned this weekend which had me even more excited for the cooler temperatures. Since there is still time to wear your summer pieces, I thought I would share this pink linen dress I picked up a few weeks ago. The great thing about buying summer pieces this time of the year is that they are typically on sale. Wear these finds now or stock up for next spring and summer!

Pink Linen Dress

A few weeks ago, I walked over to Pentagon City Mall during my lunch break. Given it’s distance from my office, this has the potential to be dangerous. Thankfully, it’s a little bit of a walk and it is usually too hot to make the journey during lunchtime. However, we had a cool day so I ventured over to browse.

I haven’t been in Ann Taylor for years. I was a pretty frequent customer, but a few years ago, I wasn’t having much luck there. I spotted something in the window as I was passing by and decided to run in. Much to my surprise, I found two dresses I loved! Both were on sale (stay tuned — I will share the other one next week!) but this pink linen dress was an additional 40% off at the time!

I instantly fell in love with the pretty pink color. Then I saw the bows on the straps. What a cute detail! A simple summer dress, I love that the fabric is a linen blend, too. It is especially cool for summer! As for accessories, I stuck with a few of my summer favorites, including these sandals and clutch. And the lipgloss was a perfect match for this summery pink number!

Petite Sizing?!

I had to devote an entire section to the sizing on this dress. When I spotted this dress on the sale rack, I started searching for my size. However, I was only seeing petite sizes! I have never even considered trying on a petite size dress. I’m 5’8 and a far cry from petite sizing. I loved the dress so much and couldn’t find a regular, so I thought well, let’s try it. It was midi length so I didn’t need to worry about the length.

Would you believe it fit?! I am wearing the 8P in these photos and I couldn’t have asked for a better fit. I actually did find an 8R after trying on the petite version. With the v-neck in this dress, the petite actually fit better on top, while the regular was way too big.

I’m still in shock I bought a petite size dress! Whether it was a fluke in sizing or maybe a hidden secret for the top in dresses to fit better, I couldn’t be happier with this dress! If pink isn’t your speed, the dress is also available in black. It would make for the perfect little black dress for summer!

  6. That dress is beautiful on you. I’m always a little sad to start talking about fall in August. We all do it and all the back to school ads are flying, etc… but I don’t want to see summer go. I host a blog link-up every Wed, so if you want to stop by, you’r welcome to link your posts.
