The red and black combination is all too familiar to me. My school colors from kindergarten through high school were red and black and it became the staple colors for Fridays. I took a break from this color combination throughout college {although not by much, our colors were red and navy!} but now I’m back to loving this combination! I think this top is the perfect transitional piece — you can dress it up or down {I love it with these black jeans!} and the pop of color is so striking with the black accessories. And of course I had to include one of my favorite prints, leopard đ I am also in love with the gold accessories — the large earrings with a delicate necklace match the gold on the Modalu bag. This top will definitely become a staple throughout fall and I am so excited to pair it with different accessories! As always, thanks for stopping by!
Top: Ann Taylor, love this | Pants: J.Crew Factory, but I love these | Pumps: C. Wonder, similar here | Sunglasses: Tory Burch {similar here} | Necklace + Earrings: Sabika {fall 2013} | Bracelets: here, here, here | Watch: Kate Spade | Clutch: Bottega Veneta, similar here | Lipstick: YSL {No.26 Violin Surreal}
Happy Monday, everyone! For those that read Friday’s post, I gave everyone a glimpse of my pre-fall wish list. One of the highlights of the list was the YSL lipstick {No.26}. So this entire post is dedicated to that lipstick! My husband surprised me and brought home the YSL lipstick, NARS nail polish{Chinatown} and the Smashbox eyeshadows! I was BEYOND excited. I couldn’t wait until fall to wear this beautiful purpley color, so I had to find something to wear with it now. I really love this combination…the leopard pants are striking but not too outrageous and the eggplant color top is a great way to compliment the pants without just wearing black. I’m obviously SO excited for fall! Thanks for reading!!
There is no doubt that I am ready for fall to get here. I am in a total fall state of mind, apart from the pink blooms I have throughout the house đ Fall is by far my favorite season, not only because of the clothes, but for the cool, crisp air. {Although, that “cool and crisp air” probably won’t be arriving in D.C. until at least the first part of October!}
There is just something about the richness of fall colors that I love. Here are a few things at the top of my wish list for pre-fall, most of which can be worn as great transitional pieces {one of my favorite looks for the transition from summer to fall can be seen here}. What are some of the items on your wish list? Leave me a comment below telling me what you can’t live without this fall!
It’s no secret that I love animal print {leopard in particular}. Look through my closet and around our home and this love for leopard becomes pretty apparent. So, of course Ella would also have to love leopard. {As a side note, I really think Ella does love leopard. She seems to gravitate to leopard blankets, toys, you name it.} Anyways, I’ve been watching a pair of J.Crew leopard flats for roughly a month now…I’m completely obsessed with them {click here to see these gorgeous shoes!} But at roughly $300, I just could not justify the purchase.
I was at Target this past weekend looking for a new skillet when I walked by the shoe section. And then, I saw these. Although not a perfect match, at $21.99 {can you honestly believe that?!} I thought this was a much more savvy purchase. These shoes are the star of this outfit, so pairing them with simple and plain accessories is the way to go. But the real star of this post is our sweet Ella. She was not too happy about all the pictures, {hence why she is only in a few!} put she is just too cute not to post, right??
These camo pants have been the perfect transitional piece. I have worn them from spring to summer and now transitioning into fall {last see here}. Not only do the black accessories make it more fall-like, it also dresses the camo up đ I’m looking forward to pairing these camo jeans with other accessories throughout fall. And one of my favorite fall accessories is featured in this post…my gold-heeled, black C. Wonder pumps: by far one of my favorite purchases from last fall.
Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend! Thanks for reading!

I love this white dress from Ann Taylor. The dress is made of linen and it is so cool and comfortable! And I love the tied waistband bow đ I am really starting to like the black and white combination {last seen here}. In the past, I’ve always paired white with beige shoes and accessories, but I think when pairing with black, it dresses the outfit up. Wear your white dresses while you can, fall is quickly approaching!

I’ve always been a fan of fall. I love the change of seasons and the cool and crisp air that comes with it. And with fall comes back to school. I remember always being nervous and excited for the start of the school year, not knowing what to expect but excited for the challenges ahead.
In my opinion, this outfit has “back to school” written all over it. The checked shirt and long cardigan just seem like the perfect first day of school outfit! It may still be August, but fall and the first day of school are right around the corner so it’s time to start planning!!
P.S. Don’t forget to enter for the Essie Fall 2014 Collection giveaway! See all the details here. Giveaway closes this Saturday {8/16} at midnight EST!

This is one of my favorite times of the year. And itâs not because of the summer weather or the warm weather clothing or the outside cooking. In just a few weeks, the U.S. Open will be in full swing, which means no matter what time it may be, thereâs a good chance tennis is on television.
There are several tournaments leading up to the U.S. Open {which are part of the U.S. Open Series} and one of the tournaments brought both men and women to Washington, D.C. this past week. The Citi Open, played in Rock Creek Park in the District, is something I have always wanted to see. I grew up going to the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati, so I was anxious to see what the Citi Open had to offer.
We got tickets to go to the Tuesday session {I wanted to make sure we went on a day when we had the best opportunity to see the most players, of course}. The weather was so perfect for tennis â by the end of the evening, people were wearing scarves and sweaters, which is extremely unusual for summer in D.C.
American Jack Sock
The first match we watched was the young American, Jack Sock, and Michael Berrer of Germany. The match was on an outer court that allowed for open seating, which meant we could get really close. We only ended up staying for the first set {so we could catch some other matches} but it was a great first set. Although, watching Jack Sock play made me feel really old when we realized he was born in the 1990s!
We then headed over to the âclock your serveâ booth. While I havenât played competitive tennis in four years, I still wanted to give it a try {while wearing four-inch heels!}. What I learned: I have lost some speed on my serve, but from the pictures my husband took, I donât think I lost too much of my form! And the best newsâŚI didnât throw my shoulder out!!
American Sloane Stephens
When Tuesdayâs schedule was released, one of the highlights for us was the match between Christina McHale and Sloane Stephens, two young Americans. The stadium {which was also on an outer court with open seating} was absolutely packed! You could tell people were really getting excited to see a competitive match between two girls who could be the future of American womenâs tennis. Unfortunately, the first set was pretty slow with unforced errors and double faults. We only stayed for the first set because we had to catch a shuttle back to a parking garage that was closing within the hour. And apparently we missed a lot â McHale ended up wining the match in three sets. {As much as we would have liked to stay and watch all three sets, we really didnât want to get stuck without our car in D.C.}
Overall, it was such a great evening at the Citi Open. I wish we could have gone back to see more matches later in the week, but with the temperatures heating up, I know it wouldnât have been quite as enjoyable as the cool 50s we experienced on Tuesday!
Catch the menâs finals today {Sunday, August 3rd} on ESPN2 at 3pm featuring two Canadians, Milos Raonic and Vasek Pospisil!
