Current Skincare Routine

current skincare routine

All this time at home has allowed me to really focus on my skincare routine. I have been trying to be pretty diligent with this routine for the past month and my hope is that when all this is over, this routine will continue. Today I am sharing my current skincare routine and the products I have been using.

Current Skincare Routine

Creating a beauty routine that works for you can be difficult. Everyone is different but these are a few of the skincare products that I’ve been testing and work for me.

Current Skincare Routine: Morning

Starting with my skincare routine in the morning, I first wash my face with this face wash. I have been trying quite a few face washes over the past few months to see what works best for me. Here is a quick overview of each:

Tula Cult Classic Purifying Face Cleanser (also here): Recently, this has been my go-to face wash in the morning. A probiotic gel cleanser that removes impurities without drying out your skin, this is a great everyday cleanser, especially for dry skin.

Skinceuticals LHA Cleansing Gel: An exfoliating gel that decongests pores and smooths and brightens skin, this is a great cleanser if you are experiencing breakouts. I will say, the smell isn’t great (if that is a selling point for you) but it really works well. I found that it dried out my skin a little too much, so I would use this if you have more oily or combination skin. For my dry skin, I have found that it works well if my skin has a breakout and I only use it a few times per week.

Tatcha Deep Cleanse Exfoliating Cleanser (also here): I fell in love with Tatcha products a few months ago (I shared some of my favorite products in this post). I typically use this cleanser in the evening because not only does it exfoliate, but it also hydrates your skin as well. Hydration is so important, especially in the evening.

I also just ordered this gentle milk cleanser that I am anxious to try. Given the current situation, delivery has been slow, so I will give my thoughts on this face wash once it arrives! Once my face is washed, I like to apply this face oil. I have used this face oil for years and it’s one of my favorite steps in my skincare routine. After applying the oil, I move on to this eye cream and this moisturizer. I have pretty dry skin, so I do use both the oil and moisturizer each day. If you have more combination or oily skin, you can probably just use one or the other. I then finish with this brightening eye stick. I love the cooling effect and it makes my eyes feel and look brighter. Wear it under or over your makeup!

Most days, that is all I put on my face! It has been a great opportunity for my skin to breath without makeup. As I mentioned last week, on Wednesdays we have a Zoom video call for work. On those days, I will actually put on makeup and do my hair. I will be sharing my current quarantine makeup routine with you next week.

Current Skincare Routine: Evening

My evening skincare routine is a little more advanced than the morning routine. Since I have been home so much, I have come up with an evening skincare schedule. The things we do during quarantine haha! If I do have makeup on, I use this makeup remover with my favorite cloth (mentioned in this post). I always use the deep cleanse exfoliating cleanser (as mentioned above). Once my face is clean, I move onto my “skincare schedule”:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday: I stick to what was my usual nighttime skincare routine before quarantine. I use this plumping skin softener, followed by this eye cream and finish with this moisturizer.

Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday: I apply this face oil and use this roller all over my face. Once the oil has had a chance to soak into my skin, I apply this eye cream and this moisturizer.

Saturday: Saturday is mask day and I have been using this exfoliating glow facial face mask lately. Great for all skin types and helps with dark spots, dullness, pores, and uneven skin texture. Apply on clean skin and allow to sit for 5-20 minutes (I leave it on for about 8 minutes since my skin is sensitive) and wash it off with warm water. I follow up with this eye cream and this moisturizer.

  3. Love this post! I’ll be interested to see what you think about the milk cleanser. I try to go with really, really simple and gentle products that are non-comedogenic!
