Currently Watching, Reading, Eating & Listening
Happy Monday, friends! I’ve been meaning to share a post like this for quite sometime — the year is just getting away from me! I always appreciate recommendations from other bloggers — from fashion to beauty to books — so I thought I would share what I am currently watching, reading, eating and listening to! Although the verbs might change in the future, I hope to keep the general idea of this series around for awhile. Here is a currently happening round-up!
Watching: Younger
In it’s fifth season, this is a show that I have watched from the very beginning. And with the season five finale on tomorrow evening (the show airs Tuesdays at 10PM EST on TV Land) I thought it was appropriate timing to share my love for this comedy.
Taking place in New York City, Liza Miller is a recently divorced, 40 year old mother who gave up her career in publishing years ago to raise her daughter. She is looking to start over but cannot get hired as a middle age woman in the publishing world. She develops a scheme with her best friend (and new roommate) so she can pass as a 26 year old. Eventually, she becomes an assistant at the publishing firm Empirical Press. The show follows Liza’s life living as if she was in her mid-20s. If you haven’t seen this show, I highly recommend it. My only compliant is that it’s only half an hour!
Reading: Crazy Rich Asians
With all the talk of the new Crazy Rich Asians movie, I thought it was finally time to give this book a try. A trilogy, although the movie that is now in theaters is only based on this first book, my co-worker (thanks, G!) let me borrow the book. Here is a quick synopsis: Rachel (no wonder I love the book!) is invited to visit her boyfriend’s family in Singapore. But it isn’t a regular meet the parents: Nick’s family is one of the wealthiest families in Asia. Rachel just doesn’t know it yet.
The goal is to finish the book while the movie is still in theaters. As much as I would like to finish the book before seeing the movie version, who knows if it will happen. My reading time is pretty slim these days with the upcoming move. However, I do find that reading in the evening after dealing with all the craziness during the day is super relaxing. Now, if I could only stay awake for more than a few pages every night! You can buy the book, Crazy Rich Asians here. Have you read any books from this series? Have you seen the movie? I would love to know your thoughts in the comment section on both the book and movie!
Eating: sweetgreen’s Summer BBQ Salad
What some consider a D.C. establishment, sweetgreen is one of my favorite places to pick up a salad. Founded in 2007 in D.C., there are now sweetgreen restaurant’s around the country. See locations here. While some of my favorite salads are on the regular menu (I love the Guacamole Greens!) they often have seasonal items that are just as tasty.
After hearing good things about the Summer BBQ Salad, I decided to give it a try. And I only have one thing to say: WOW! After having it for lunch last week, I actually wanted more! Featuring romaine, kale, watermelon, blackened chicken, corn and a green goddess ranch dressing (just to name a few of the ingredients) you will be in end of summer heaven. This is another salad I need to try to recreate since it will only be at sweetgreen for a limited time. If you have a sweetgreen in your area, I highly recommend their salads. Especially the Summer BBQ!
Listening: Royally Obsessed
For those of you who are subscribed to my e-mail list and newsletter (you can sign up here if you haven’t already!), you know I am just slightly obsessed with the royal family. I love reading about the royals, especially when they highlight the fashion and style of Kate and Meghan!
If you are as “royally obsessed” as me, then this is a podcast for you. I have to confess, I’m not a big podcast person (I didn’t even know how they worked!). But, after reading about Royally Obsessed in an article not too long after Harry and Meghan’s wedding, I decided to check it out. Covering anything from royal events, gossip, fashion and other goings-on, this is your one stop shop for all royal news. If you are interested, you can subscribe to the (free) podcast here.
What I’m Shopping For: Less Clothes, More Home!
Although shopping wasn’t in the title of this post, I did want to share just a few things. It’s only fitting, right? As of now, it’s a lot less clothes and more home decor for the new house, but here are a few fall pieces I’m eyeing. Scroll through for more!
….
Thanks for reading, friends! Have a great start to the week!

I still haven’t read Crazy Rich Asians, but I really want to! It’s gotten so many great reviews and plus I love reading books that have been made into movies so I can compare.
