Happy Monday, friends! Just a quick post today since we are still in California. Sharing a few of our wedding pictures since we are celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary today! Here are 7 fun facts about us…
1. It’s Political
Some of you might know this, but Richard and I met when he was running for State Representative in Ohio. We met in April of 2008 during his campaign. He lost the election but won me 🙂 (you can read the full about me post here)
2. On the Road Again
After Richard lost the election, he moved back to D.C. and I had just started my junior year of college in Pittsburgh. We spent most weekends on the road — Richard would drive to Pittsburgh or I would drive to D.C. if I didn’t have a match that weekend (I played college tennis at Duquesne — GO DUKES!) or if I had an away match, he would drive there. We put lots of miles on our cars during those two years!
3. My, How Things Change!
Weekends look a lot different these days. If one of us isn’t traveling, we spend the weekends watching Fox and Friends (my very favorite!), taking blog pictures, grabbing Blue Bottle coffee in Georgetown and spending time with Miss Ella.
4. Anniversary Trip
It has become a tradition to go away for our anniversary each year. We don’t travel (except for work) much during the year, so we always look forward to spending our anniversary away. Most years, we head to California. For awhile, we rotated between Napa and Palm Springs, but this year we did both! It’s a nice way to celebrate our anniversary each year.
5. Opposites Attract
Richard and I are pretty much opposites. But, as the saying goes, opposites attract! I’m a super early riser and love exercising first thing in the morning. I’m usually up between 4am and 430am everyday while Richard likes to sleep and if working out is on the agenda, it’s not happening in the morning! Another opposite? Although I was an English minor in college, I have a tendency to, as Richard says, “butcher” the English language. Whether it’s a name, a street or even a word, I typically will get the first few letters and then just make up the rest of the word! On the other hand, Richard never lets me forget he was the spelling bee champion.
6. Dinner Together
As cliche as it may sound, we eat dinner every night together. We both have long days, but I cook dinner just about every night and we enjoy dinner together. With Richard’s long hours, dinner is just about the only time we see each other during the week, so it’s nice to have this routine set in stone.
7. It’s all about Ella!
Last, but certainly not least, I thought I would write down my favorite memory from the past 7 years and ask Richard to name the same. We both had the same answer: the day we brought Ella home! Ella goes just about everywhere with us — she is our fur baby! And while I have always been a dog person, Richard has not. But Ella changed everything for him! We love her and miss her so much while we are gone. We are constantly asking for pictures from my parents 😉 Although, I know she is having a great time and probably doesn’t even miss us!

Here’s to many more! Thanks for reading and have a great start to the week! I will be back tomorrow with an all new recipe that is perfect for all your summer BBQs and Memorial Day weekend!
