Summer Makeup with Urban Decay

With summer in full swing, I’ve shared several outfit and recipe ideas, but what about makeup for the season? As a blogger, I am fortunate enough to receive PR packages from companies with their newest products quite frequently. However, I’m pretty picky about the products I share with you. I only want to share the very best products and the ones that I love! Recently, I received Urban Decay’s latest collection and it has summer written all over it.

Summer Makeup with Urban Decay

Urban Decay is one brand that I have been using for years, before A Blonde’s Moment was even an idea. I have always appreciated their products and how well they work with my sensitive skin. From their eyeshadow primers (I use this one) to their eyeshadows and lipsticks, I have always had luck with their products. And, like always, Urban Decay is the best at packaging. I love the palm tree print that covers the Beached collection!

When it comes to eyeshadow, I usually stick with basic colors. Shades of neutrals and golds are typically my go-to, so needless to say I reached for those first. But, after trying a few of the neutral colors (“salt”, “blaze” and “daybreak” are my favorites) I started loving the consistency of the eyeshadow so much and began feeling adventurous. FYI: I photographed these pictures before I started using the products so they wouldn’t be messy for pictures. I had a good feeling about this collection and I’m so glad I decided to shoot the products before I started playing with the colors. My makeup palettes don’t usually look this clean! Just in case you were wondering 🙂

I haven’t ventured to “plunge” yet, but it’s on my list. I love the way the colors in this palette work together to form colors of summer, and more specifically, the ocean. Personally, I use “salt” to highlight my eyebrow and “blaze” for all over color on my eyelid. As for the crease, I love to blend in “daybreak”. If you want to go with something really striking for a night out, the combination of “double dip”, “plunge” and “16th St.” would make for a stunning summer look. For as much as I love brightly colored lipsticks, I have been on a real neutral lipstick and lipgloss kick lately. There is something to be said for an easy lip color in the summertime when you are inevitably sweating. Sweating with red or hot pink lipstick could be a recipe for a disaster! This color (called “heatwave”) is neutral enough to go with so many of your summer outfits, but the rust shade has some metallic in the color that gives you a beautiful summertime shimmer. Available in two other shades (see those here) this is a creamy lipstick that you will want to wear all summer long. And it looks fabulous with the Beached eyeshadow palette (above) too. Beached Bronzer c/o

I saved the best for last! If you are signed up for my newsletter (you can do that here if you are interested!) I talked a little bit about this bronzer in Friday’s email. I have been searching for a great bronzer for what feels like forever. One that works well with my sensitive skin, isn’t too dark, isn’t too orange and one that is not too heavy. A lot of requirements, I know! In the past few years, I have tried countless bronzers, each yielding a similar result. I had given up on finding one, but after checking out the color of this Urban Decay one, I thought I would give it a try. What was another bronzer that didn’t work, right? Much to my delight, I fell in love with it. There are so many things to consider when searching for a bronzer, but finding the appropriate color is most challenging for me. With fair skin, I always have a fear of looking too orange or tan! The color I use, and is pictured here, is the “sun-kissed” but is also available in a darker shade, “bronzed” (shop that here). Overall, I couldn’t be happier with this bronzer. Not only is it the shade perfect, it works well with my sensitive skin and I love the lightweight formula. Five stars for sure! 1. I love all of these colors! I’m so bad about trying new makeup and colors, to be honest. I really need to step out of my comfort zone and start trying new makeup. Summer is the perfect to time to do it too! Hope you guys have a great weekend!
