Ten Christmas Movies to Watch in 2020

Ten Christmas Movies to Watch in 2020

It’s hard to believe Christmas is NEXT WEEK. But there is still plenty of time to catch up on the best movies of the season! Here are ten Christmas movies to watch in 2020:

Ten Christmas Movies to Watch in 2020

It’s one of my favorite times of the year and each year, I look forward to watching Christmas movies. And they seem to start earlier and earlier each year! I had a huge list of movies to watch this season, but I narrowed it down to ten. While I have included a mixture from Netflix and Hallmark, I realize the Hallmark ones could be more difficult to watch since they aren’t “on demand”. Although, if they are on the schedule for the next week, I’ve included a date and time at the end of the summary. Without further ado, here are my top 10 favorites for 2020 (in no particular order):

Operation Christmas Drop (Netflix)

A new movie on Netflix for 2020 and based on true events, the movie follows a Congressional aide tasked with investigating a U.S. Air Force Base in Guam. The base has a yearly tradition, Operation Christmas Drop, to airlift goods and supplies to the surrounding islands. An Air Force Captain shows the Congressional aide around and tries to convince her that Operation Christmas Drop is a worthwhile cause and that the base should remain open.

The Princess Switch: Switched Again (Netflix)

The sequel to The Princess Switch that came out a few years ago, this movie was cute, but I liked the first one better. But if you saw The Princess Switch, you almost have to watch this sequel! In Switched Again, Duchess Margaret unexpectedly inherits the throne after the death of the King and her lookalike, Stacy, steps in to save the day before Margaret’s cousin, Lady Fiona, disrupts the day. I am always a sucker for a royal Christmas movie, so I had to include this one on my list.

A Christmas Prince // The Royal Wedding // The Royal Baby (Netflix)

Although I have talked about A Christmas Prince before (see this post), no Christmas movie list is complete without including these three movies. A Christmas Prince follows the journey of a young journalist as she is sent to Europe to cover a press conference with Prince Richard, who is set to take over the throne after his father’s recent death. As you can imagine, this movie quickly escalates from love story to royal wedding to royal baby. This is probably my favorite Christmas movie!

A Christmas Catch (Netflix)

I found this movie while browsing Netflix and thought it looked cute! A little more mystery than your typical light-hearted Christmas movie, this movie centers around a police officer working undercover to find a possible diamond thief. But the officer puts herself in a tricky position when she starts to fall for the suspect.

One Royal Holiday (Hallmark)

When a Boston nurse, Anna, offers a mother and son a place to stay at her father’s inn in Connecticut during a blizzard, she learns that the duo is part of the Royal Family of Galwick. Anna shows the Prince what Christmas looks like in her small town and encourages him to open his heart.

Christmas in Vienna (Hallmark)

A violinist travels to Vienna for a performance and not only finds the inspiration she has been looking for, but also a new love. This was a really cute movie and one of my favorites from Hallmark this year!

A Timeless Christmas (Hallmark)

I will confess that when I saw commercials for this, I wasn’t sure that I was going to like it. However, I think this is at the top of my list for Hallmark movies this year! Charles Whitley travels from 1903 t0 2020 and experiences what Christmas is like in the 21st century. I just checked the schedule and A Timeless Christmas is actually on today (12/16) at 2 pm EST if you are interested!

Good Morning Christmas! (Hallmark)

I have actually seen this movie a few times — I feel like it has been replayed quite a few times on Hallmark. And the more I saw it, the more I liked it! Two bickering TV show hosts are sent to a small town over Christmas. While they are pretending to get along for appearances, they find out there is more to each other than they ever thought. This movie is actually on tomorrow (12/17) at 2 pm EST, so mark your calendars if you are interested!

Five Star Christmas (Hallmark)

This one is cute, too! A travel writer arrives at a family’s bed and breakfast and the entire family pretends to be guests in an effort to receive a good review for their father. There are some funny moments, especially at dinner the first night! This movie will air again Saturday (12/19) at 2 pm EST if you are interested!

Christmas She Wrote (Hallmark)

Ok, this one was really cute, too! And it stars Danica McKellar, who is a staple in the Hallmark Christmas movies. When Kayleigh has her column cancelled right before Christmas, she heads back home to see her family. She receives an unexpected visit while in her hometown after the person who cancelled her column realizes how valuable she was to the paper. Tune in tonight (12/16) at 8 pm EST to catch this Christmas movie!

  1. A BIG Thank YOU. I never know which ones will be good. I’ll check these out. Love the pic of you and Ella!

  2. If you can find it – Annabellle’sWish – an animated 1997 movie featuring Randy Travis is a sweet movie and one of my all time favorites!
