Where to Stay in Napa: Andaz Napa Review

Hi, friends! I hope you all enjoyed your long holiday weekend. We are finally back from our California adventure. And while we had a great time, there is nothing like being home! If you have been following along on Instagram and Instagram Stories (rach.mccarthy), you know that we started in Northern California in Napa and drove down the coast to Santa Barbara and ended our anniversary trip in Palm Springs. I shared my first look from Napa last week on the blog (you can see that post here) but today I’m talking all about where to stay while visiting the Napa Valley: the Andaz Napa.

Andaz Napa: Location

We have been to Napa a few times, but this was our first time staying in downtown Napa. There are many places to stay in the Napa Valley and when we first visited wine country, we stayed further out in Sonoma. While we enjoy staying in Sonoma, it is quite a hike to get to the vineyards and restaurants of Napa and the surrounding suburbs. However, Andaz Napa is right in the heart of it all! Located in downtown Napa, the Andaz Napa is within walking distance of the cutest shops, restaurants and tasting rooms. After a long day of travel, we were so happy to drop the car off and walk around exploring downtown Napa.

Andaz Napa: Room & Mercantile Terrace

Upon checking in, we were offered a glass of wine while we got settled in our rooms. The perfect welcome to Napa Valley! We proceeded to our room and were shocked with the size: a sitting area with a couch which was situated across from the bed made for the perfect place to enjoy our wine and our morning coffee. We have stayed at Andaz hotels in other cities and always love the modern decor. The Andaz Napa was no exception! After unpacking, we headed out to the Mercantile Terrace, an outdoor patio with a bar, fire pits and live music. As the sun was setting (and we were falling asleep due to the time change!) it was the perfect place to enjoy our first evening in Napa.

What to Wear in Napa

I wore this outfit for our first day of exploring in Napa. This high-waisted, midi gingham skirt was great for a day of wine tasting. The bow around the waist was the perfect detail! I paired this fun gingham skirt with a basic black tee and my new, go-to white wedges (last seen in this post). We took these pictures on the Mercantile Terrace. As you can see, this outdoor space is the perfect place to enjoy all the sights, sounds and views of the beautiful Napa Valley.

Have you ever been to Napa? What are your favorite things to do and see in the Valley? I would love to hear in the comments section below. Thanks for reading and have a great start to this short week, friends!

  1. The hotel looks so quaint and cute! What a perfect way to start off your trip! And I love how you get a glass of wine right when you check in 🙂 Hope you are settling back in after your long vacation! It was so fun to see you and I love how our picture turned out too. Glad Pete thought to take one of us! 🙂

  2. That hotel looks so divine! I’ve only been to Napa once, but it was extraordinary, and I can’t wait to go back – I’ll definitely need to look into this place. Also, your gingham skirt is divine!

  3. LOVE that gingham skirt on you. Almost included that in my JCrew order yesterday. I love how amazing Napa looks and we definitely hope to get there someday. I didn’t realize how long you were there, how great! Welcome home!

  4. We used to go to Napa and it’s been 3 years since we have been there. We are thinking of heading there over the summer for wine tasting! The Andaz Napa look so beautiful and I love the modern decor! What a special treat for a special celebration. It looks like you had an awesome trip! Happy belated anniversary.

  5. I’ve never been but now I am totally inspired to put it on my list of places to visit. It’s funny my husband and I were just chatting last night and he said to me, the kids are pretty soon not going to want to go everywhere with us and we are still going to be under 40 and we can do/travel wherever even for a long weekend. I guess Napa is now going on our adult only vacation list. 🙂 Love, love, love that skirt. I love all things high waisted. So glad I stopped by. Stop by my blog and link-up a fashion or lifestyle post on June 1st.

  6. Oh – what a surprise! We went to Napa in May 2016 and stayed at the Andaz; it was wonderful and I can totally recommend it. I like your outfit, great pics.
Another thing I can recommend is https://www.platypustours.com/ – they picked us up at the hotel and we had a fantastic day with them.

  7. This sounds like the perfect anniversary getaway! I’ve never been to Napa, but my mom, aunt, cousin, and sister have gone up there on girls’ trips for the last few years. (Why they always schedule it when I can’t be there is another story…) It always looks so beautiful!! I’ll have to send them the Andaz as an idea for their next trip. 😉

  8. There is something really special about California. I went to some vineyards a few years ago in the Sonoma area.
