Four Summer Beauty Finds

four summer beauty finds

Happy Thursday, friends! The heatwave that is hitting the east coast is the real deal. 100 degrees (without the humidity!) is in the forecast for tomorrow and this weekend. Given all this heat, I wanted to share a few of my new favorite beauty products that are getting me through the summer temperatures. Here are my four summer beauty finds:

r and co detangle spray

R+Co Pinstripe Intense Detangling Spray

After using this for a few months now, this has become one of my go-to hair products. I first was introduced to R+Co at my hair salon. All the products that I have tried have been good, but after my stylist used this on my hair, I fell in love. My hair not only has a tendency to get tangled after washing, but it can also be super dry. R+Co Pinstripe Intense Detangling Spray is a lightweight spray that you put on towel-dried hair that gives shine and moisture to your hair. And it makes brushing out your wet hair a lot easier! And while the product does contain UV protection, I still like to add a heat protectant after combing through this spray. You can shop this detangling spray here. Right now, I am rotating between this heat protectant and this one. Side note: you can read my review of my hairdryer in this post. This hairdryer is currently on sale in a different color here and available in this white here.

tula primer

Tula Face Filter Primer

I have shared my struggles with finding the perfect primer a few times. In the past, one of two scenarios would happen: 1) I would instantly hate the primer; or 2) I would like the primer at first and then I would have an allergic reaction a few days in. I had reached the point of giving up on a primer.

A few years ago, I tried a Tula mask before (this one) and really liked it. So, when I heard Tula was introducing a primer, I thought why not give it a try. The Tula primer is appropriately named “face filter” primer — it really is like an Instagram filter for your face! It blurs any impurities while adding moisture and radiance with a dose of probiotics. After applying my face oil, eye cream and face cream, I add just one pump of the primer and rub it into my hands before applying it to my face. There is a bit of color to the primer, so one pump works well for my fair skin. You can see how the primer adds a bit of color in the pictures below:

This primer locks in your moisturizer and creates the perfect base for your makeup. Because it creates such a smooth surface, I have noticed that I am even using less foundation. Before, the foundation was soaking into my skin, but this primer creates a barrier between your moisturizer and foundation that will keep your makeup going strong all day. While I have dry skin, the reviews indicate this product works well with oily, sensitive and combination skin as well. You can shop the primer here.

hoola light bronzer

Hoola Matte Bronzer — Lite

Speaking of getting a sun-kissed look for summer, I have jumped on the Benefit Hoola Bronzer bandwagon. I had been using an Urban Decay bronzer for quite awhile. While I didn’t hate it, over time, my skin unfortunately did. I had heard rave reviews of the Hoola bronzer so I thought that I would test it out the next time I was in Sephora. Unbeknownst to me, there was a Hoola lite version that was a much better match for my fair skin. I’ve been using it since about mid-May and I’m loving it! I always have a fear the a bronzer will make my skin too orange or too dark and this is the perfect shade. A natural sunkissed look that isn’t overdone! You can shop the lite bronzer here and shop the regular shade here.

farsali setting spray

Farsali Rose Gold Skin Mist

I had been looking for a makeup setting spray for a few months and decided to pick up this Farsali Rose Gold Skin Mist during the Sephora sale a few months ago. I had been using the Urban Decay setting spray (see it here) forever, and while I like it, I was looking for a change up in my routine. And wow, is this spray good! Not only does this setting spray keep your makeup on all day, it also helps with dryness, uneven skin texture and loss of firmness. The rosehip seed oil and gold flake ingredients help to keep your skin hydrated. And it smells great, too!

Although it can be used on bare skin, I use it as a makeup setting spray: once I am finished with my makeup (before putting on mascara…I have heard conflicting information about this but this is what I do!) I shake the bottle and spray about 8 inches away from my face in a circular motion. And while it is a little more expensive than other makeup setting sprays, I love the added benefits of this formula. You can shop this skin mist here.
