My 3 Favorite Face Masks

3 face masks for dry skin

Before I started blogging, I don’t even think I knew what a face mask was. And if I did, I certainly didn’t use it often. Now, after having tried several face masks over the years, I have narrowed down my 3 favorite face masks to share with you today. Although my skin wasn’t bad before, it’s amazing how much more hydrated and radiant it looks since adding a few products to my routine.

origins rose face mask

Origins Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay

Origin’s Rose Clay Mask is the latest in my mask collection. The mask is made of Mediterranean rose clay, perfect for the rose obsessed like me! This mask reduces the size of your pores, restores your skin’s clarity and leaves your skin glowing. In the past, I have had a hard time finding clay face masks that worked well with dry skin. Not only does this mask work well for dry skin but also normal and oily skin. I apply this about once a week since I use other masks, too. However, if you are just sticking to this mask, it can be applied 1-2 times per week. To apply, I start with a clean face and apply the mask, avoiding the area around my eye. I let it sit for 10 minutes. FYI, the mask does dry and makes your face feel pretty tight! After 10 minutes, I wet my fingers and rub in a circular motion to exfoliate. I rinse my face completely and follow up with my favorite nighttime serum and eye cream.

tula exfoliating mask

Tula Exfoliating Treatment Mask

The first ever mask I tried and it’s still one of my very favorites! Tula’s Exfoliating Treatment Mask is designed for all skin types and leaves your skin with an even glow. The mask is made of bentonite clay which does a wonderful job of exfoliating and removing impurities, but it doesn’t strip your skin of it’s essential oils. There is even Vitamin E in the mask which helps to heal and calm your skin. Use 2-3 times per week, but as I mentioned above, I only use it once a week since I am using other masks as well. I apply a thin layer to my clean skin and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. The directions suggest 5-10 minutes, but since my skin is on the sensitive side, I don’t like to keep it on as long. After the 5 (or 10) minutes, I wet my fingers with water and gently scrub the mask into my skin before completely rinsing the mask off. Like with the rose mask above, I apply this nighttime serum and eye cream after.

Although this is a post about my 3 favorite face masks, if I was forced to pick a favorite, it would probably be this Tula mask. Not only do I love the way my skin feels after using the mask (super hydrated and soft) but it has really made a difference in my skin’s appearance long term.

kiehl's hydrating face mask

Kiehl’s Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque

Last, but not least, is Kiehl’s Calendula & Aloe Soothing Hydrating Masque. As the name suggests, this gel mask is all about the hydration. When the gel hits your skin, it instantly offers a cooling sensation that not only hydrates but also calms your skin. As I mentioned, this mask is of a gel consistency. Since most of the masks I have tried are clay-based, this gel formula was new to me. And although it works with all skin types, it is especially beneficial for dry and dull skin. For this mask, I apply a visible layer to my skin and allow it to sit for 5 minutes. I then rinse off the mask with warm water while gently massaging my face in small circles. Since this mask does not have any exfoliating properties, you can use it a little more frequently, up to three times a week.

Other Face Masks to Try

While the three above are my favorite masks, I wanted to include a list of other face masks I have tried or that are on my list to try in the future. Simply click directly on the product image for more information!

We are leaving Dallas this morning to head down to Austin for tomorrow’s wedding! But not before we do a little sightseeing and shopping 🙂 And of course we are stopping at Magnolia Market on our way south. We weren’t going to miss a chance to see the Silos! Have a great weekend, friends!
