Happy Monday, friends! It was a hot weekend here in the D.C. area. It sure didn’t feel like the last weekend of September! Today I’m sharing this versatile red ruffle floral dress. From a wedding guest dress to worn casually with a denim jacket, this is a dress that can be worn multiple ways this fall.

Red Ruffle Floral Dress

As I mentioned in last Thursday’s 24 Hours in Newport post (see it here), we were in New England at the beginning of September for a wedding. I have always found it difficult to find a dress for a September wedding. While the temperatures are still warm, you don’t feel like wearing summer colors is appropriate. Actually, the few September weddings we have attended, I have worn red! It’s a color that can work for late summer and early fall.

When I first spotted this dress online, I fell in love with the color, print and of course the ruffles! However, I was skeptical about the sizing. Sized small/medium/large, I was worried about the fit. Much to my surprise, the medium (my usual size) fit perfectly! It was the perfect dress to wear to the early September wedding with the temperatures in the 70s that weekend in Boston. I always like finding dresses that can be worn for multiple occasions, and I’m happy to report this one does.

Versatile Fall Dress

Not only does this dress work well for the guest of a wedding dress, I also love it paired with a denim jacket for a more casual look. Since it is still so hot here, this works perfectly for warm fall weather. However, I’m looking forward to pairing this dress with a moto jacket and ankle booties when the temperatures eventually cool down! If you are curious how I wore this dress to the wedding (I don’t have a good picture to share, unfortunately) I paired it with these neutral sandals and this neutral clutch.

  9. I know how you feel about that warm weather – we are the ones usually getting it right now, but for some reason the past few days have only been in the 60’s! For us, in September? Totally unheard of, and I’ve been loving it! 🙂 Thursday we are back to the 80’s though…blah. I love this dress and how you added the denim jacket to it. It transforms it into a totally different look! And those are the cutest ruffles too. Hope you guys have a great week!
