This fall, I have been loving florals. I have jumped on the fall floral bandwagon in previous years, but this year, the florals are different. This year’s fall florals are not your standard fall colors. The shades are in some cases, brighter like this dress or moodier like the florals in this post. I picked up this vibrant fall floral dress before we headed to Boston back in September and have styled it for early fall with sandals and now with over the knee boots.

There are so many great fall trends in the outerwear category this season. It’s not your traditional black topcoat anymore! Don’t get me wrong — a black topcoat is still perfect, I have several! However, there are a lot of colors, prints and faux fur to be worn this fall. Here are my fall trends: capes, jackets & outerwear!

Nothing like kicking off the return of outfit posts with the coziest, brightest and most fun sweater of all! This oversized pink sweater is a closet favorite and with Valentine’s Day just a few days away, this hot pink number will most definitely be making an appearance this week!

Hi friends! I had made this Valentine’s Day inspiration collage a few weeks ago and haven’t had the time to write the content! It’s been a rough few weeks in the McCarthy household. January and February are always a super busy time at work for me with state legislatures in session (you can read about my 9-5 job in this post) but this year has been busier than usual. Then last weekend, Richard wasn’t feeling well, so he spent the weekend in bed. Sunday evening I checked his temperature — it was at 103.5! We ran to urgent care and it was confirmed. He had the flu. For the past week, I’ve been trying to take care of him (while still keeping my distance!), crazy with work and disinfecting the house constantly. Thankfully, he is feeling better, but it was a rough week.

Long time no talk, friends! As if the last few months haven’t been crazy enough, we are somehow almost half way through December! It’s amazing to think Christmas is just a little over two weeks away. It’s been a busy few weeks at work and at home, but now that the Christmas decorations are up at the new house, I am finally starting to feel somewhat caught up. I should be posting more regularly in these last two weeks before Christmas, so stay tuned. Not only do I have more gift guides for you, but also some holiday and winter outfit inspiration and the first look of our new house decorated for Christmas! Speaking of gift guides, here is a round-up of 25 stocking stuffers under $25…
White Fuzzy Sweater
One day I am talking about spring and the next I’m back to wearing sweaters. I guess it’s fitting since this change reflects our current weather situation! Although, I have to say, I am glad the temperatures dropped a little so I could wear this new white fuzzy sweater that just arrived last week in the mail. This cozy sweater was my go-to top last weekend. Pair it with high waisted jeans and sneakers for a casual winter weekend outfit.
Valentine’s Day Accessory: Red Beret
Happy Monday, friends! How crazy that we are halfway through February already. And since Valentine’s Day is Wednesday, I wanted to share an outfit idea for the holiday that isn’t completely over the top. Don’t get me wrong — the more red (and especially pink!) the better. But if you are looking for a way to subtly add these colors into you outfit for Wednesday, there is no better way than through accessories. Whether it be with a red beret, jewelry, handbags or even lipstick, there are many ways to incorporate a little Valentine’s Day spirit into your look.
All Black Everything with Grey OTK Boots
All black everything. A go to combination all winter long, this outfit is one of my favorite dressed up casual looks. You may be a little distracted by my hair because it was all over my face for the majority of these pictures. These four were the only decent ones! While brainstorming post titles for today’s post, all I could think of was “hey, wind” or “trying to take pictures in the wind”. Ironically enough, these pictures were taken on the same day, one street over from Monday’s post pictures and the wind was completely fine. But, I digress. The point of today’s post is about one of my favorite trends: all black everything. Well, except for my OTK boots 😉
How to Wear Chambray in Winter
A classic chambray shirt. It’s one of my favorite tops to wear in the spring, but what about the winter? I was looking at my spring clothes the other day (desperately looking forward to wearing them soon!) and figured it wasn’t too early to start incorporating spring into my outfits. Today I am talking about how to wear chambray in winter.
My Winter Weekend Uniform
Cozy, comfortable and ready to conquer the world. That is typically what is on my mind when I think weekend style. It tends to vary depending on the season, but most weekends you will find me wearing something similar to this while running errands, going to the grocery store and doing housework. I am always in the market for cute and comfortable clothes that can double for a casual weekend or dressed up with jeans for date night. This has been my winter weekend uniform as of late and it definitely ranks up there with one of most comfortable looks I have ever shared.
