Happy Thursday, friends! I’m back with a new post today and this “Currently” post seems fitting. A quick update on what has been going on and a few of my current favorites for August:

verve coffee

Since quarantine began in March, we have been drinking a ton of coffee. We have always been coffee lovers, but being at home all the time has lead to a serious coffee addiction! We have tried quite a few coffee roasters in the past few months, but our favorite is Verve Coffee Roasters. Last May, we actually visited their location in Beverly Hills while we were in California. It’s nice to have a bit of California (or at least a memory!) here at home. We actually liked it so much, we joined their coffee subscription. I told you we were serious about our coffee 😉

Like many, it’s been a crazy few months! As I mentioned in a post last month, my 9-5 work has been busier than ever. Don’t get me wrong — I’m very grateful. It just unfortunately means that there is less time for ABM. However, the biggest problem was lack of space on my personal computer. When we left work on March 13 (and have yet to return) we thought we would stay home for two weeks and just use our personal computers to get us through the rest of March. Two weeks have now turned into almost five months and I finally received a work computer last week! As shipping is delayed with just about everything, that included my laptop. Now, I have plenty of space on my personal computer and blog post can resume!

Besides work, I have been working on a few house projects that I have wanted to do since we moved in nearly two years ago. I’m still working on a few things — and fingers crossed that a kitchen renovation is in our near future — but here is a peak at our entryway. It looks a little different from when I shared pictures at Christmastime!

We have been catching up on a few (new & old) shows the last few months. It all started with Homeland, which I started at the beginning of COVID. How had I never seen this?? I think I finished the entire season in a month, which for me, is pretty quick since I’m not a huge TV person. After Homeland, Richard and I both got hooked on Billions. Unfortunately, we are stuck mid-season because filming stopped in the beginning of March due to COVID. Talk about a true cliffhanger! I will definitely be ready whenever they can start filming again!

We also started rewatching Young and Hungry. We watched this towards the end of 2019 and it’s a cute and funny, 30 minute show that is easy to watch. I’m not a big “rewatcher” but this is one show I can watch more than once!

currently reading

American Crusade | American Royals

For some reason, I really thought I would get a lot of reading time during quarantine. However, I haven’t had as much time as I would like thanks to work. I do have two books on my nightstand that are next on my docket. Currently, I am reading Pete Hegseth’s American Crusade. If you know me in “real life”, you probably know that Pete is my favorite political commentator. When his new book was released in late May, I obviously got a signed copy!

I also love anything royal, so American Royals is next on my list to read. It’s been on my list for awhile now and I am very much looking forward to reading it. It has been super popular and has received great reviews. Has anyone read it?!

P.S. Notice the “American” theme? Totally unintended, but I love it!

protein berry smoothie

Lately, my go-to lunch has been this berry protein smoothie (see the recipe here). I have had it almost every weekday for the past few months. I wake up craving it everyday! Add frozen berries, banana, a scoop of my favorite protein powder, a spoonful of peanut butter and Greek yogurt (if I have it) and almond milk. Best part: it keeps me full all afternoon!

All the focus is on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. While I will be shopping it and cover it here on ABM (first post coming next Monday!) I have to say I wasn’t thrilled with the selection this year. Maybe my outlook has changed since I haven’t worn “office clothes” in five months, but I feel like I like less things than in years past. I have to say I was slightly disgusted when I checked my wish list yesterday to see one of my favorite pieces has already sold out. The sale just started Tuesday to Icon members — how is that even possible?! In case you missed it, Ambassador level starts Friday, Influencer level begins Monday, and Insider level begins a week from today. The sale then opens up to everyone on August 19th and ends August 30th. I like that you are able to add things to your wish list before the sale begins, but frankly, I find the different start dates for cardholders to be confusing haha! Here are just a few of the items I have my eye on. Check back Monday for more:

I also have had some great Amazon finds recently! I’ll be recapping them in an entire post next week, so stay tuned! You can see my last Amazon post from June here.

….

Thanks for stopping by, friends! See you back here on Monday!

  1. Glad to see ABM back!
Especially love the write-up on your current books…although you’ll need to stay up past 9pm to make any meaningful progress! 😉

  2. Peonies are a familiar flower for me. They take me back to great childhood memories. I have an arrangement on my kitchen island.

  3. Bring on all the peonies and coffee, and LOVE that mirror – gorgeous! I hear ya on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I’m usually not super excited for it because I can’t even think about fall pieces in the middle of the summer, but do usually score some great pieces for now and accessories. I was also underwhelmed by the selection and don’t understand how items are already selling out. Fingers crossed you can find most of your wish list when it’s time <3

  4. How weird, we got sent home from work on the very same day! We had to pack up our whole desktop, transfer it home, set it up and be able to work the very next day. It was all so crazy and scary! Do you know when you might go back to the office? Also, I was disappointed with the Nordstrom sale too. I especially didn’t like the different shopping days at all. I also think people aren’t that excited because no one is able to go anywhere or do anything. Sad!! Glad to see your blog is back. We miss you guys! xo

  5. Welcome back! I am sure it was unintentional break for you but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. We have been drinking a ton of coffee here too. It’s just a life saver and so needed! Lol I have not heard of Young and Hungry and need to check it out. I am a little bummed about the NSale. I could never shop it early but I have been eyeing the Spanx leggings so I am keeping my fingers crossed it’s still in stock by the time I can shop the sale. I hope your week is off to a great start and happy Tuesday!
