Best Buys of 2018

best buys of 2018

straw bag | curling iron | fleece jacket | hairspray | sandals | rose toner | leopard clutch | floral statement earrings

One of my favorite posts to share each January is a recap of some of my favorite products from the previous year. You can see last year’s Best Buys of 2017 here. It’s a great way to recap some of my favorite finds from the previous year and shows the most used and worthwhile finds of the year. Here are my best buys of 2018:

Straw Bag

This was one of my favorite and most worn bags of the spring and summer. It went with so many of my spring outfits, it was a no-brainer for me. Although I love a huge tote to carry around, there is something to be said for a small bag: everything can stay organized and things can’t get lost! And for as much as I carried this bag, it held up really well. It does not look worn at all! You can see how I styled this straw bag five different ways last spring and summer here.

Curling Iron

After receiving requests for a hair tutorial, I finally shared how I curled my medium length hair in this post. After using this curling iron for over a year now, it is safe to say it’s my go-to. I curl my hair most days and this iron is easy to use and gentle on my hair. With 50 heat settings up to 450 degrees, I love that I can keep the iron at a lower temperature so my fine hair doesn’t damage. My hair stylist had recommended this curling iron to me and I can’t say enough great things. For reference, I use the 1 1/4 barrel. Best part: it’s under $50! You can see other barrel sizes here.

Fleece Jacket

This is one of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale finds from back in July (you may remember it from this post). As I predicted in my review of purchases, this jacket has been one of my coziest layers for fall and now as we head into winter. Our weather has been unusually mild here in the DC area this winter, so this has been the perfect layer to wear out to run errands or when I take Ella on a walk. However, the temperatures are suppose to be dropping today, so I will be needing another layer for Ella’s walks! Runs true to size and it is so soft and cozy.

Hairspray

I first reviewed this Redken Quick Dry 18 hairspray when I shared this hair curling tutorial. Not only do I love how this hairspray holds my curls all day, the smell is just amazing! Although I switch back and forth between this 18 and the 12 (see it here), I really like this line of hairsprays. The 18 is considered to be extreme hold, while the 12 is a medium hold. I love that Redken offers several different “hold” options in their hairsprays.

Sandals

These sandals took the world by storm last year and it’s no wonder! The sandals (I also have the wedge version in white) are some of the most comfortable sandals I have ever owned. Between this beige flat version and the white wedge version, I think those were the only sandals I wore all last spring and summer. This beige flat version looks great with skirts, dresses and even jeans. I loved wearing the white wedge version with sundresses. You can see how I styled the beige flat version here and the white wedge version here.

Rose Toner

Last spring, I shared a few of my favorite scents of spring and included this rose toner in the mix. In the post (see it here) I talked about how I had never found a toner I loved…until this one. Not only am I a sucker for any and all rose flavored or scented products, but this toner really works! The toner adds a great amount of hydration to my face, which is so important during these colder months. And a little goes a long way. I am still on my first bottle!

Leopard Clutch

This is another Nordstrom Anniversary Sale find that I shared in this post. It’s not too shocking that I fell in love with this leopard clutch as soon as I “spotted” it. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself 🙂 I love anything leopard, but this clutch is the perfect size and is so versatile. I’ve carried it as a clutch to my cousin’s wedding, out to dinner and have even thrown it in my tote to use as a large wallet. With an interior pocket that can hold up to 6 cards, it works great as a wallet, too!

Floral Statement Earrings

I have to say that when I bought these earrings, I bought them for one particular outfit. I figured I probably wouldn’t get a ton of wear out of them, but since they were fun statement earrings, I was ok with it. Probably more of an impulse buy, I wrote them off as fun earrings that would be good to have on hand. Much to my surprise, I wore them a ton in the spring and summer! Given their neutral color, it was easy to pair with so many warm weather outfits. One of my favorite ways I wore these earrings is with a navy eyelet dress in this post.

….

Thanks for stopping by, friends! Have a great rest of the week and weekend. See you back here on Monday!
