Faux Leather Jacket and Leopard Mules
Happy Monday, friends! Just stopping in for a quick post to share another easy, and a bit edgy, fall outfit idea. A faux leather jacket is one of my favorite fall and winter layers. It’s easy to throw over tees, dresses and even thinner sweaters! And I love the edgy element the jacket instantly gives the look. For today’s outfit, I paired my go-to faux leather jacket and leopard mules for the ultimate casual and cool fall outfit idea.
How to Transition Your Wardrobe from Summer to Fall
I know we are still in the first part of August, but place this is the “save for later” category. Truthfully, I only started thinking about fall clothes this past week. Overall, the summer hasn’t been too hot in D.C., but this past week has been brutal. The humidity has to be between 90% and 95% with temperatures in the 90s. Needless to say I’m ready for the cooler temperatures! I was reflecting back on some of my favorite ways to start incorporating more fall-like pieces into my wardrobe by late August. From jackets and cardigans to olive green and chambray shirts, here are my tips on how to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall.
Styling a Spring Dress for Fall & Guide to Pittsburgh
If I have said it once, I have said it one hundred times, I love a versatile piece that can be worn across the seasons. I first bought this orange swing dress in the spring (you may remember it from this post) and I loved wearing it all spring. Once the temperatures warmed up, I had to put it aside, but was determined to find another way to wear it once the cooler temperatures arrived. We spent the weekend in Pittsburgh a few weekends ago and couldn’t wait to style this spring dress for fall.
Fall Floral Dress
Fall florals. I haven’t always loved florals in the fall, but it’s really growing on me this season. This was the last dress that I purchased ahead of NYFW and I instantly fell in love with it’s print and midi length. Although it’s technically an off the shoulder number, I decided to pair this fall floral dress with my go-to faux leather jacket for an early fall look.
Olive Green Dress
As far as I am concerned, an olive green dress is a closet staple for the fall. I do not discriminate when it comes to dresses. I’ll take a dress any season! But there is something about fall dresses that has me especially excited this year. A fall dress in a quintessential fall color, I am sold.
Grey Bell Sleeve Sweater
If fall is anything like this summer to fall transitioning time, my fall wardrobe is going to be pretty heavy on the sleeve show. Bell sleeves, statement sleeves, I can’t get enough! I spotted this grey bell sleeve sweater during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and knew it had to be mine. I mean, look at the sleeves!
Pattern Mixing with Leopard and Stripes
Pattern mixing in the fall is one of my favorite things. And although it isn’t fall yet, I could not resist sharing this stripe and leopard combination with you a little early. Especially these leopard ankle booties. Of all patterns, stripes and leopard are one of the easiest to experiment with. Today is all about pattern mixing with leopard and stripes.
Gingham Dress and Leather Jacket
Since seeing the faux leather jacket during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I’ve been dying to wear mine. My leather jacket was a purchase from a previous Anniversary Sale and it’s one of my favorite layers in the fall and winter. Last Saturday, there was a serious chill (and wind) in the air and an extra layer became a necessity. I paired this gingham dress and leather jacket together for an easy summer to fall transitional look that happened to be a little preppy and a little edgy.
