And after the warmer temperatures the past few days, I have been reaching for all my spring pieces, including this cute graphic top for spring.
Last weekend, we headed to central Virginia, Charlottesville to be exact, to spend some time in the heart of Virginia wine country. We have been to “suburbs” of Charlottesville before, but never made it to Charlottesville proper until this trip. Richard and I love to visit wineries in Northern Virginia closer to our home, but we were anxious to try more of central Virginia’s wineries. We packed up the car and headed south for President’s Day weekend to explore a new area of our state, with Ella in tow, for a warm but overcast and rainy weekend in Virginia wine country.

There is always a trendy color of the season. And while there are a few that I am loving for spring, it would be difficult to not start with this year’s Pantone Color of the Year. I talked about my love for the new color of the year in this post and the love is still going strong! From violet to lavender and everything in between, shades of purple are everywhere this spring.
One day I am talking about spring and the next I’m back to wearing sweaters. I guess it’s fitting since this change reflects our current weather situation! Although, I have to say, I am glad the temperatures dropped a little so I could wear this new white fuzzy sweater that just arrived last week in the mail. This cozy sweater was my go-to top last weekend. Pair it with high waisted jeans and sneakers for a casual winter weekend outfit.

I know I have been talking a lot about spring in the past few weeks in my inspiration posts, but I feel like I can almost justify it now: the high tomorrow here in D.C. is going to be in the 70s! I know it won’t be sticking around, but this sneak peek of warmer temperatures makes me so excited for spring. And since I have been looking forward to spring since the first of January, I have already started adding pieces to my spring wardrobe (you can see last week’s post about what I’m buying for spring here). But just because these are “spring” pieces, doesn’t necessarily mean you have to wait until spring to wear them. Today, I’m talking about how to wear spring pieces now and later when spring eventually arrives.

As I mentioned in Monday’s post, this is the time of the year I start purchasing spring pieces to add to my closet. By February, I have had enough of the cold temperatures and winter clothes and the search is on for spring pieces. Today I am sharing a few of the spring pieces I have been eyeing for the new season. I always get excited for a new season of shoes and it’s about this time of the year I start looking for a few new pairs to add to my collection. All black everything. A go to combination all winter long, this outfit is one of my favorite dressed up casual looks. You may be a little distracted by my hair because it was all over my face for the majority of these pictures. These four were the only decent ones! While brainstorming post titles for today’s post, all I could think of was “hey, wind” or “trying to take pictures in the wind”. Ironically enough, these pictures were taken on the same day, one street over from Monday’s post pictures and the wind was completely fine. But, I digress. The point of today’s post is about one of my favorite trends: all black everything. Well, except for my OTK boots 😉
