Happy Monday, friends! It was a chilly and snowy weekend here in Northern Virginia. It’s been a few years since snow has come in December — I am afraid for the rest of winter! I had actually planned to wear this gorgeous navy velvet jacket to a Christmas party on Saturday evening, but I didn’t want the falling snow to ruin the velvet! Regardless, I couldn’t wait to share this perfect winter jacket with you.
Happy Friday Eve, friends! I’m back today with another holiday dress. Last week, I shared this velvet bell sleeve dress (you can see the post here). But this week’s holiday party dress is a little different. I spotted this dress a few months ago and knew it would be perfect for the holiday season and even for New Year’s Eve!
I think it’s safe to say there is a new favorite sweater in my closet. When I spotted this sweater online a few weeks ago, I instantly fell in love. The bright pink color, faux fur details and oversized style, this pink sweater with faux fur pockets gets all the heart eyes.
Since the beginning of fall, I have had it in my head that I needed a velvet dress for the holidays. I have always been a fan of velvet and was so excited to see that it was going to be trendy for fall and winter. There is something about a black velvet dress and the holiday season that I can’t get enough of.
Happy Monday, friends! Can you believe it’s Thanksgiving week? Before the craziness of Thanksgiving and holiday sales begin, I wanted to share one more non-holiday post with you. Although this vest could be styled for the holidays and the rest of winter, I am sticking with fall accessories one last time. I have always loved vests for an extra layer in the fall and winter (like the monogrammed vest from this post and the cropped faux fur vest from this post), but this faux fur leopard vest was too good to pass on when I saw it in stores a few months ago.
A pink ruffle skirt. Could there be a more perfect piece for the lover of all things pink? I had shared this skirt in a Wednesday Wishes back in September and knew it had to be mine. Although it is available in a few colors, I couldn’t miss out on the chance to wear a bright pink ruffle skirt.
Oh, leopard. The perfect neutral. If you have been following along for awhile now, you probably have noticed my leopard obsession. From dresses to accessories, it’s my go-to neutral print. I thought that since I wear a lot of leopard on here, it was time to talk about how to wear leopard and incorporate it into your wardrobe. Especially since leopard is bigger than ever this fall! Whether you are just looking for a hint of leopard with accessories or to make a statement with a dress, this post will have you covered.
This dress checks all the boxes for me. High neck, cute ruffle details and a fun print. Last week I raved about this grey ruffle sleeve sweater and hinted about another find from that day. Well here it is! The cutest printed mini dress I have ever seen.
A couple of months ago, I wore this gorgeous burgundy dress as a transitional piece (post here). I paired it with a chambray shirt for a top and skirt effect. Now that the fall temperatures have arrived, I am styling it with a light-weight long sleeve tee. This dress and tee are perfect fall layers for work.
Happy Friday Eve, friends! The day is finally here, and I couldn’t be more excited to share with you a recap of Francesca Liberatore’s FW 16 runway show along with what I wore! Words truly cannot describe how excited I was to attend my first show at New York Fashion Week. For someone who has always had a love for fashion and browsed fashion magazines for the latest collections, being able to attend a runway show in person to witness these trends first hand was beyond incredible! First, a little about my look which, coincidentally enough, went very well with Francesca’s FW color palette!
For a Friday evening show, I knew I wanted something classic and chic. But, I had been searching and searching for the “perfect dress” and literally couldn’t find a thing that was NYFW-worthy. I was at my local Nordstrom store a few weekends ago and stumbled upon this cute geometric sweater dress. It was the last one {and not my size} but I figured at that point, I might as well try it on since I was running out of options. Much to my surprise, it fit! Super thankful this dress was running a size too small because it truly was perfect and exactly what I had been looking for! Besides being in love with this print, it was SO warm, which was obviously perfect for the cold temperatures this past weekend in New York!
Now, on to the show! Francesca Liberatore had a packed house for the showing of her FW 2016 collection. While most of the collection featured a color palette of black, beige and white, there were pops of primary colors, such as a gorgeous green and vibrant red. What I loved most about her new collection was the movement of each piece on the runway. Although many of the pieces were more of a form-fitting style, there was still an element of “flow” as the model walked down the runway. Without a doubt, some of the pieces I loved most were the dresses and gowns, featuring the most gorgeous details: from ruffles to pleats, these intricate details made each piece special and unique.
And Francesca didn’t just stop at dresses! There were many outerwear pieces that were the perfect mix of functional and stylish, something that is truly hard to accomplish. And how fitting to be showing all this fashionable and warm outerwear in the arctic temperatures! Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the collection:
It was such an amazing experience and what a fabulous first show to attend! I will be highlight a few other shows from NYFW next week, so stay tuned! And don’t forget to subscribe on the right. A newsletter will be going out tomorrow morning!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and see you back here Monday!
