Valentine’s Day Inspiration

Hi friends! I had made this Valentine’s Day inspiration collage a few weeks ago and haven’t had the time to write the content! It’s been a rough few weeks in the McCarthy household. January and February are always a super busy time at work for me with state legislatures in session (you can read about my 9-5 job in this post) but this year has been busier than usual. Then last weekend, Richard wasn’t feeling well, so he spent the weekend in bed. Sunday evening I checked his temperature — it was at 103.5! We ran to urgent care and it was confirmed. He had the flu. For the past week, I’ve been trying to take care of him (while still keeping my distance!), crazy with work and disinfecting the house constantly. Thankfully, he is feeling better, but it was a rough week.

Current Winter Beauty Finds

Happy Monday, friends! It was a snowy weekend here in the D.C. area. The snow started Saturday afternoon and as I type on Sunday evening, it is still going strong. Winter has been pretty quite so far, but looking at the extended forecast, it looks like it’s going to be a snowy start to 2019. Speaking of winter, today I am sharing a few winter beauty products I’ve been loving. I first discovered the Kérastase collection a few years ago after my hair stylist recommended a shampoo and conditioner. I had been going back and forth between shampoos and conditioners for years, seeming to switch them up each time I went to the salon. I had tried countless brands, never finding one that I truly loved. Three years after my hair stylist introduced me to Kérastase, I’m still loving it. Although I have tried quite a few of their products, today I am talking about the Kérastase Color Protection Collection and sharing what has become my go-to hairstyle this summer.

Besides spring fashion, one of the things I look forward to most about the new season are fresh scents. I love anything with a rose scent and although I use rose-scented products year round, it becomes more acceptable in the spring. It’s hard to beat the smell of fresh flowers, especially roses in my case. Fresh flowers are the quintessential spring scent and an indication that the warmer temperatures are near. With the start of March last week, I am completely on the fresh spring scents train. Today, I am highlighting two of my favorite fragrances for spring along with two rose-scented beauty products I have been using daily (regardless of the season).
